The terms are at https://nearcut.com/legal/service_terms_and_conditions (clause 9.22). They also allow a lower booking fee option under which the barbershop bears the payment processing fees deducted from settlement. checked 29 October 2026, source
Deposits A deposit confirms the appointment. You choose the amount, per service if you like. Online deposits are offered and optional. The terms say a booking fee applies where a manual booking needs a deposit paid online, worked out on the booking’s total value at checkout. No deposit rules (amounts, per service, auto-cancel) are published. Terms clauses 9.12 and 9.18. The pricing page, https://nearcut.com/en-GB/pricing, lists “online payments and deposits”. checked 29 October 2026, source
No-show protection Save a client’s card when they book, and charge a no-show or late-cancellation fee under your own policy. Card fees as above. Texts 5p a part on pay as you go; 4p a part on Pro. Unlimited SMS reminders for online bookings are included on the £0 Free for You plan. Terms clause 3.10: https://nearcut.com/legal/service_terms_and_conditions. The pricing page does not say whether Subscription includes reminders. checked 29 October 2026, source
Commission on new clients 0%. Hopaby has no client marketplace, so it sends you no new clients. No commission on your clients: the page says “Always zero commission”. Instead, clients pay a booking charge at checkout on the £0 Free for You plan, refunded if they cancel. The page’s only figure is an example of £1.50 on a £20 haircut; whether it is fixed or a percentage is not stated. The terms let Nearcut change the booking fee, including its amount or structure, at any time without prior notice (clause 9.16). checked 29 October 2026, source
Contract Monthly. No minimum term. Monthly. The pricing page says there is no long-term contract and no setup fee. The terms say either side may end the agreement on one month’s written notice, and switching plans needs at least 30 days’ written notice. Terms clauses 14.2 and 2.4. The pricing page, https://nearcut.com/en-GB/pricing, says you can switch plans at any time; the terms are the stricter wording. checked 29 October 2026, source
Taking your data with you Yes, by request. No client-list export is described on the pricing page or in the terms. The terms say Nearcut will return the Materials it holds on written request, and give reasonable help moving the website to you or another provider, with its reasonable expenses paid. Terms clause 15.5. Ask Nearcut in writing for your client list before you leave. checked 29 October 2026, source

Hopaby charges no VAT. Nearcut prices are as published on the dates shown; ‘+ VAT’ means their price excludes VAT at 20%.

How we compared: we read Nearcut’s public pages, listed below, and recorded each figure with the plan it applies to. We left out introductory offers and trials. Where a page does not give a figure we say so rather than guess. Where prices differ by plan, the plan is named.

A worked month

Nearcut does not publish its subscription price, card fees or the booking charge its clients pay, so we cannot work out a month without guessing. Ask Nearcut for the figures for your team size and takings and set them against Hopaby’s figures above, or the worked examples on our pricing page.

What Nearcut does well

What Nearcut does that Hopaby doesn’t

Moving from Nearcut to Hopaby

What moves

  • Your clients: names, mobile numbers and notes, by whatever file Nearcut sends you, or by typing them in.
  • Your services and prices.
  • Your barbers and their working days.
  • Future appointments, re-entered by hand or from any file Nearcut gives you.

What stays behind

  • Stored card details: these do not move between payment providers, so clients save a card again with Hopaby.
  • Your Nearcut website and any custom app built for you stay with Nearcut’s systems; the terms cover help moving the website, with expenses paid.
  • Nearcut’s Google review invites and feedback requests are part of its service; reviews already posted on Google stay on Google.

The steps

  1. Set up Hopaby alongside Nearcut: your services, prices and barbers.
  2. Ask Nearcut in writing for your client list. The terms say it returns the materials it holds on written request; there is no stated export button.
  3. Run both for a fortnight. Take new bookings on Hopaby, finish the ones already in Nearcut, and send a card-save link to the clients you see most.
  4. When the diary on Nearcut is empty, give one month’s written notice, which the terms ask for, and check your last invoice.

You do not have to switch in a day. Run both for a fortnight, and close Nearcut only when its diary is empty.

Is Nearcut free for barbers?

Partly. Nearcut’s UK pricing page lists a Free for You plan at £0 a month, with clients paying a booking charge at checkout (its example is £1.50 on a £20 haircut). The Subscription plan has no published price; the page says to contact Nearcut for a quote. All prices exclude VAT. Checked 29 October 2026.

How much does Nearcut Subscription cost?

Nearcut does not publish it. The pricing page shows a calculator for locations and barbers, a flat fee with no extra charge per booking, and “Contact us for a quote”. The first 30 days are not charged. Because there is no published price, we have not worked out a month for Nearcut on this page. Checked 29 October 2026.

What is the Nearcut booking charge?

On the £0 Free for You plan, the client pays a small booking charge at checkout, refunded if they cancel. Nearcut’s pricing page gives only one example, £1.50 on a £20 haircut, and does not say whether the charge is fixed or a percentage. Its terms say Nearcut may change the booking fee, including its amount or structure, without prior notice. Checked 29 October 2026.

Does Nearcut take commission?

Nearcut’s pricing page says “Always zero commission”. It charges the client a booking charge on the £0 Free for You plan, or a flat monthly fee on Subscription. Nearcut’s terms also mention commission paid to you if you refer other businesses, under a separate referral agreement. Checked 29 October 2026.

How do I leave Nearcut?

Nearcut’s terms say either side can end the agreement on one month’s written notice, with fees payable monthly. They also say Nearcut will return the materials it holds on written request. Ask for your client list in writing before the notice period ends. Checked 29 October 2026.

Is there a Nearcut alternative with no booking charge for clients?

Hopaby adds no booking charge for your clients and takes no commission on them. You pay a card fee instead: 3% of each card payment on pay as you go with no monthly fee (three team members included, then £5 a month each), or 1.75% + 20p on Pro at £29 a month with unlimited team members. Texts are 5p a part on pay as you go and 4p on Pro. Hopaby has no client marketplace, no loyalty scheme and no product sales, so Nearcut’s extras have no equivalent there.

We will email you once when Hopaby is ready to download, and use your address for nothing else. Privacy notice.

No monthly fee for up to three people. 3% when you get paid. No commission on your clients, ever.

Nearcut is a trade mark of its owner. Hopaby is not affiliated with it.
