Sports massage booking: a deposit when they book, paid at the door

A sports massage booking app: a deposit confirms each home visit, and Tap to Pay on iPhone takes the balance at the client's door.

We will email you once when Hopaby is ready to download, and use your address for nothing else. Privacy notice.

No monthly fee for up to three people. 3% when you get paid. No commission on your clients, ever.

A diary with your services in it

ServiceTimePrice
Sports massage 60 min £55
Deep tissue 45 min £45
Pre-event massage 30 min £30

You’ve driven twenty minutes, carried the table up the stairs, and done an hour on a runner’s calves. Chasing a bank transfer afterwards is the last thing you want.

Open Hopaby, enter £55, and the client taps their card or phone on your iPhone. It’s done before you’ve folded the table. No reader, no cash, no waiting for a transfer.

The booking has already been confirmed by a deposit paid when they booked, so you set off knowing someone is home. And the travel block you add between visits shows in the diary, so the day adds up.

And the rest, in the order that matters to you

What it costs at your size

Say your average booking is £50 and you take £3,000 a month by card, about 60 payments.

Pay as you go

£90.00

No monthly fee. 3% of each card payment.

Pro

£93.50

£29 a month, then 1.75% + 20p on each card payment.

Pro costs less from about £3,400 a month in card payments at this average. Below that, pay as you go costs less.

No VAT is charged.

Your cancellation policy

Mobile therapists usually ask for 24 hours' notice, because a late cancellation also costs the travel time to the door. A modest fixed deposit, often £10 to £15, is common and counts toward the fee on the day. Many add a note that a client who isn't home within 15 minutes of the booked time is treated as a missed session, and that anyone booking agrees to a saved card being charged under this policy.

Hopaby handles your bookings, deposits and payments. It doesn't keep clinical notes, so keep client injury notes in your current system.

Questions and answers

How do I get paid at the client's door?

Open Hopaby on your iPhone, enter the price and the client taps their card or phone on the back of it. Tap to Pay on iPhone needs no reader. The fee is 3% of each card payment on pay as you go, or 1.75% + 20p on Pro.

How do I allow for travel time?

Put the travel in the diary as its own block between visits, so the booking page doesn't offer a slot you can't reach. Many therapists add 15 to 30 minutes either side of a home visit.

Can I charge a saved card if a client isn't home?

Only if they agreed to it when they booked. Say in your policy how long you wait, what you charge, and that booking means they agree. Then the charge comes from the card they saved, under the rule they read.

Do I need a deposit on every booking?

Many mobile therapists do, because a no-show costs the drive as well as the hour. A deposit of £10 to £15 confirms the booking and comes off the price on the day.

Does Hopaby keep client records?

No. Hopaby doesn't keep clinical notes or treatment records; keep injury and treatment notes in your current system. It handles the booking and the payment.
