No-show protection Save a client’s card when they book, and charge a no-show or late-cancellation fee under your own policy. Card fees as above. You can set a fee for no-shows and late cancellations, charged to the client’s saved card even if they pay cash. Fee amounts and limits are not published. Barbr’s own guide to barber booking apps says it runs no consumer marketplace and takes no cut of new clients’ first visits. That guide is written for the US market and quotes dollar prices; the statement is about Barbr’s model, not a UK price. checked 29 October 2026, source

How we compared: we read Barbr’s public pages, listed below, and recorded each figure with the plan it applies to. We left out introductory offers and trials. Where a page does not give a figure we say so rather than guess. Where prices differ by plan, the plan is named.

A worked month

Barbr does not publish its card fees, so we cannot work out a month without guessing. Ask Barbr for the figures for your team size and takings and set them against Hopaby’s figures above, or the worked examples on our pricing page.

What Barbr does well

Moving from Barbr to Hopaby

What moves

  • Your clients: names, mobile numbers and notes, by CSV or by typing them in.
  • Your services and prices.
  • Your barbers and their working days.
  • Future appointments, by CSV where Barbr gives you one, or re-entered by hand.

What stays behind

  • Stored card details: Barbr’s privacy policy says card details go straight to a third-party payment card processor, so expect clients to save a card again with Hopaby.
  • Your Barbr profile, portfolio and reviews stay on Barbr; they do not travel with you.
  • A Barbr booking website or client app, if you are on Pro or Max, stays with Barbr. Point your own link at Hopaby once you have moved.

The steps

  1. Set up Hopaby alongside Barbr: your services, prices and barbers.
  2. Ask Barbr’s support (support@barbr.io) for your client list. Barbr does not publish an export tool, so check what it can send you, or type in your regulars.
  3. Run both for a fortnight. Take new bookings on Hopaby, finish the ones already in Barbr, and send a card-save link to the clients you see most.
  4. When the diary on Barbr is empty, cancel your Barbr subscription.

You do not have to switch in a day. Run both for a fortnight, and close Barbr only when its diary is empty.

How much does Barbr cost in the UK?

Barbr’s website lists £20 a month for Core, £30 for Pro and £40 for Max, with each added barber at £10 a month and a 14-day trial that needs no card. It does not say whether those prices include VAT. Checked 29 October 2026.

Does Barbr charge card fees?

Barbr does not publish a card processing rate on its pricing page or in its terms, so we cannot give you one. Its terms say payment is taken by card or through a third-party payment processor. Ask Barbr for the rate in writing before you compare, because it can change the monthly total more than the plan price does. Checked 29 October 2026.

Does Barbr take commission on new clients?

Barbr’s UK pricing page lists none. Barbr’s own guide to barber booking apps says it runs no consumer marketplace and takes no cut of new clients’ first visits. Checked 29 October 2026. That also means Barbr is not a way to be found by new clients, and neither is Hopaby.

Barbr vs Hopaby for a barbershop of four, which costs more?

Subscription only, checked 29 October 2026: Barbr’s Core plan for four barbers is £20 plus 3 × £10, so £50 a month, VAT basis not stated. Hopaby on pay as you go is £0 a month with three team members included and £5 for the fourth, so £5 a month, or £29 a month on Pro with unlimited team members. Hopaby charges no VAT. Card fees are the missing piece: Hopaby takes 3% of each card payment on pay as you go or 1.75% + 20p on Pro, and Barbr does not publish its rate, so we have not worked out a full month.

Can I export my clients from Barbr?

Barbr does not publish an export tool. Its privacy policy says you can ask to access, correct or delete personal information you have given it, so ask support for your client list in writing. Barbr says it moves clients into Barbr for you at no extra charge, but that does not say anything about moving them out.

Is there a Barbr alternative with no monthly fee?

Hopaby on pay as you go has no monthly fee. It takes 3% of each card payment, includes three team members and charges £5 a month for each further one, and texts are 5p a part. Pro is £29 a month with 1.75% + 20p on each card payment and 4p a part for texts. Hopaby has no marketplace and takes no commission on your clients, and it has no loyalty scheme or marketing campaigns.

We will email you once when Hopaby is ready to download, and use your address for nothing else. Privacy notice.

No monthly fee for up to three people. 3% when you get paid. No commission on your clients, ever.

Barbr is a trade mark of its owner. Hopaby is not affiliated with it.
